There I was, fresh off of vacation, feeling good about the fact that my wife and I chose probably the best week of the entire summer to visit the beach, one week before the arrival of Hurrican Isabel. So we were back in the house, tanned, rested, and I was ready to head back to work the next day.

So, as part of my routine to get back in the “know” of what is happening in the world, I log on and begin to scan various content sites. One of my favorite, which I save for last on this occasion, is Opinionjournal.com. I always find something there worth reading, and I especially enjoy the “Best of The Web” section which comes out several times per week.

It was here that I found out about the new Gephardt site, “amiserablefailure.com,” set up to bash, you guessed it, George W. Bush. What shocked me about this site in ways that all the debate rhetoric had not was that it was such a LOW thing to do, go out and register the domain and set it up this way.

I would expect that from high school or college-age geeks, but not from one of the most powerful men in the nation. No wonder Saddam Hussein refused to believe that Bush was serious, he probably felt very confident that Democrats would so damage Bush’s credibility that the President would not dare to attack.

Fortunately for all of us, President Bush kept his resolve. And the rest is history.

However, as a person who believes in justice and fair play, I decided that it would be appropriate to create a site which spoofs Gephardt’s “amiserablefailure.com” web site. So, in just a couple of days, I registered a new domain, set up a hosting account with Bloggedup.com, and had the spoof page ready.
