It happened again not 15 minutes ago. My wife and I were watching the “Tonight Show” with Leno when Vince Neil of Motley Crue, while singing their hit song, “Girls, Girls, Girls” shouted, “Happy f*&$%@g new year!”
My eyes just about popped out of my head (which, by the way hurts!), my jaw fell open, and I looked over at my wife on the couch and said, “did that guy just use the “f” word?” “Yes he did!” she replied.
At which point I chuckled. NBC had just let Vince Neil of Motley Crue shout the “f” word out to a national audience that ranks in the millions of viewers!
This is, no doubt, a developing story…

This may turn out quite interesting. I was as shocked to hear Vince Neil’s outburst as much as you were (were are taking about network tv here), but I am even more shocked to discover that you are one of the first to comment about this. I have not heard even a whisper about it on the news thus far. You would think that this would be up there with Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” as far as the media is concerned. As I watched I could only think two things, either Vince Neil didn’t even realize what he said, or it was done intentionally to get some additional publicity due to Motley Crue’s upcoming reunion tour and the airing of the documentery of Vince’s “makeover”. Sadly, if this was in fact done as a publicity stunt, today even the ‘f’ word can’t kick the career in the butt of an aging, has been rock star.

Yes-the two of us are the only ones in the United States, who heared with cyrstal clear audio, “Happy Fucking New year Tommy!” I was amazed
they did not pull them from the rest of the show after commercial break.
I guess Jay Leno’s reputation as squeaky clean saved his ass. He has many Republican and Democratic friends. Why attack Jay with the FCC?
They apparently are afraid of his large audience of the mainstream.
I wonder if Stern was ranting about this Today? I suppose the FCC could make the excuse that it was at 10 midnight when kiddies were to be safe asleep! Yea, right.
Anyway a search of Google on Motley Crue and Tonight Show only showed your site. For the record-I was irrevocably disturbed by my loss of innocence by the vulgarians.Put me down for any monetary class action
suit!!!!

Jim,
Great idea! Perhaps you, C., and I can all start a large class-action suit to seek compensation for loss of sleep, lost wages, uncontrolled anxiety, and anything else we can think of.
Really, though, I’ve been absolutely amazed at the lack of even one report on what happened. It was a pretty loud comment.
I think the other part of all of this, though, is the fact that everyone expects Neil to use that kind of word. He probably uses the word a hundred times a day, we we know that it was an accident rather than on purporse.
Thanks to both of you for visiting here and leaving comments.

Your right David.
Vince probaly didn’t even realize he was about to use the F word and it just came out. No biggie, it’s no worse than what anyone who has cable TV can turn on and see or hear on any given channel any given night.
But maybe he did say it knowing full well what was about to come out of his mouth. Again, no biggie.
Like the lead singer for Aerosmith once said :
” A couple of four letter words never hurt record sales “
