A Roundup of Our Hi-5 Weekend

Well, I’m very sorry that I’m posting this such a long time AFTER the Hi-5 concert at Sesame Place, but it took me a bit of time to get away from a new game I’ve been playing called “Star Wars: Republic Commando.” It’s a simply phenomenal FPS (first-person shooter) game with an interesting story line and intuitive interface. What can I say, I’m a gaming geek too.

But, getting back to the real point of this post, the final day of our Hi-5 concert getaway was even better than the previous two. First of all, my head and stomach were no longer trying to mount their own little revolution. Secondly, we were able to see the Hi-5 cast yet again before we left for home.

On Sunday morning, as we were getting ourselves organized for our trek back home, we had the chance to see the entire Hi-5 cast as they were getting ready to head back out to Sesame Place for a second day of shows. We first spotted some of the cast members while we were at breakfast. The girls really wanted to say hello, so Julie walked over to ask if it was okay. They were so very nice to the girls and even posed for pictures with them.

We saw them again about 30 minutes later as we were bringing our bags out to the van. They were all gathered in the lobby, getting ready to go back to Sesame Place. Again, they took the time to say hello to the girls. Here are a few pictures here for your viewing pleasure:

The girls with Kimee & Jennifer

The girls with Karla & Curtis

Shaun & the girls

How in the world do you properly thank such generous people? Shaun and I had another brief chat too and he was telling me about how much he was enjoying being a part of Hi-5. His sincerity came across with crystal clarity.

Julie and I wish the cast all the best. We so appreciate the generious gift of their time over the course of the weekend. I know that both our girls were thrilled to meet everyone and to see them in concert. It’s cliche, I know, but thanks for the memories.

  1. David,

How exciting that your girls were able to meet the whole cast and take photos with them. They are super aren’t they. Enjoy.

  2. It was definitely a blessing to be able to see them. And just seeing them and perhaps waving would have been a thrill for the girls, but the Hi-5 cast went WAY beyond that, taking time to talk to them and posing for pictures. I’m not surprised that the cast would be so generous, based on what I’ve seen and heard of them, but it was wonderful and getting a chance to chat with Shaun was a great pleasure. Shaun actually reminds me quite a bit of my old college roommate, except that Shaun can sing and dance. ;-)

Thanks for posting your comment Jennifer!

  3. Hi David,
Wow, that’s great that Hi-5 was so nice to your family. My son is crazy into Hi-5 too. I think we’ll go and see them in Sept. May I ask which hotel you stayed at? Was it the Sheraton? Thanks!

  4. Angela,

    Thanks for visiting. :-)

We stayed in a new Holiday Inn that was fairly close to Sesame Place. I’m trying to remember the exact location, but it’s escaping me. My wife would know.

I can tell you, as an FYI, there is never any guarantee where they’ll be staying. We went back up and stayed at the same hotel a few months later for another Hi-5 concert and they were not there. Rumor was they were staying at a Sheraton which was right next to the park. I think your best bet is to try that hotel first.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

    David

  6. Hey David, thanks for the email.
Wow you sure lucked out being in the same hotel as the FAB 5!:smile:
Hi-5 is very well loved in our household too and it is a shame about the cast change. We wish Shaun and Karla all the very best in their new endeavours, and we can’t wait to meet the new members and see Curtis, Jenn and Kimee again this August at the PNE.

  7. Hi again David,
Thanks for your response! I appreciate reading your updates on our kids’ favorite groups. My 16 month old is like your baby…she comes up and goes “Hi-Fa” and puts both hands up in the air. Scary, isn’t it??

Anyway, bummer news. All of the tix at Sesame Place have been given away for the concert. I’m debating going up the night before and trying to get tix at the gate at 8 AM. My husband thinks I’m crazy…I am! Nobody will say how many tickets they will have available day of. I can’t anticipate how many people will show up at 8 Am to get tix. What do you think?

In any case, I’ve booked us a room at the Sheraton, b/c I cancel the room that day w/out a penalty. I guess we’ll see how the weather looks!

    Take care and thanks again,
    Angela

  8. That’s great that you and your family got to see Hi-5 again so personally, especially Karla and Shaun. You are so right about Shaun being like a college buddy…he seems to present himself in a way that you feel he is an old friend the way he picks up on conversations and adds so much to them. Maybe it is all that diplomat training he’s got…
    Great pictures BTW!!!
