- Ron Paul is both out and in.
- Ann Romney is accused of imitating Stalin and Hitler for her use of the term, “crown of motherhood.”

- As The First Gay President (FGP?), President Obama has decided he is able to dispense fashion advice to women.
First, James Taranto’s Bye-Ku for Ron Paul:
Latest word from the
Ron Paul Survival Report
Is that he didn’t
The problem is, he decided to “stop spending money” on the primary, it doesn’t mean he’s withdrawing or suspending his campaign. He’ll almost certain continue raising money, and his Paulestinians will continue attempts to wrest delegates from Romney in states where primaries have already been run. So Ron Paul gets to continue fleecing followers at least until the Republican convention. This is a great gig. @here can I get myself a fanatical following like this?
In other news, Michelle Goldberg today compared a comment by Ann Romney to those of Stalin and Hitler. Of course, she denies she was comparing Ann to Stalin and Hitler, but, apparently, Ann likes to use their rhetoric. What was so offensive and outrageous? In reference to motherhood, Ann wrote in USA Today that a hat women never take off in their lives is the “crown of motherhood.” Goldberg found the phrase to be “really kind of creepy,” and compared it to awards given by Stalin and Hitler and other such “authoritarian” societies. I guess liberals love communist societies and praise them for being models of equal rights (no one has them, so they’re all equally powerless), except when they promote “motherhood” as s societal good. Then they’re just… well… brutal dictatorial regimes!
A lot can be said of this comment and I’m sure much will be said. But my personal take on Goldberg’s reaction to the phrase is that she is offended by Ann’s assertion that not only do women who become mothers remain mothers forever, but also that the most important role a woman can take on in her life is the title of “Mom”. So what’s wrong with that idea? I’ve had a lot of titles in my life, but my most important title is “Dad.” Why is it so offensive that Ann Romney would feel the same way about her role as “Mom”? There are answers to this, but life is too short. I’ll move on.
Also in the news, Newsweek has crowned (literally) President Obama, “the first gay president.” Really? On the cover of the magazine, they actually put a rainbow halo on a picture where he is looking to the heavens. Of course, conservatives are going to spend the next few weeks laughing at the picture, and the next five months using the picture to help get Romney elected. It’s just the kind of over-the-top reaction you expect from the left and just the kind of thing that will drive moderates away from the president in droves. First, because no Republican would ever be idolized in this fashion by a mainstream press outlet. Second, because the Messianic fervor liberals have regarding the president is (truly!) creepy.
But the upside of being “the first gay president” is that you’re able to give commencement speeches at women’s colleges and dispense fashion advice. Which is exactly what the president did today at Barnard College in New York, telling women they can be “stylish and powerful too.” And look at the video still posted by Politico.com:
Notice the angelic halo around the president’s head? Now, tell me the mainstream media doesn’t have some kind of freaky God complex when it comes to this president. Did you ever see them capture an image like this with President Bush? I think not! Creepy!!
By the way, Barnard College is a women’s-only college. That’s no biggie. What is interesting is the fact that President Obama invited himself to be the keynote this year at their commencement. To do this, the president forced the school to bump Jill Abramson — former NY Times Editor — probably so he could talk about the Republican “war on women.” Isn’t that nice?
